The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that Nigerian troops killed 317 terrorists and rescued 221 kidnapped victims in recent nationwide military operations.

According to the military high command, the operations were conducted across multiple theatres, including the North-East and North-West, as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violent crime.

Officials said the missions also led to the arrest of several suspected collaborators and the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and other logistics used by criminal groups.

The DHQ noted that the rescued victims have been handed over to relevant authorities for medical attention, profiling, and family reunification.

Military authorities described the operations as part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore peace in affected communities.

They also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to aid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal networks until lasting stability is achieved across the country.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
