NIGERIAN SENTENCED IN UK FOR ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND’S UNDERAGE DAUGHTER
A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom, Elvis Nosakhare, has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting the underage daughter of his girlfriend.
According to a statement released by Thames Valley Police, Nosakhare will also be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and is subject to a restraining order.
The 41-year-old reportedly met the victim’s mother on an online dating platform and later carried out the abuse, which authorities described as a severe breach of trust.
The police statement noted: “Nosakhare met the mother of the victim via an online dating site and then abused her daughter in a disgusting betrayal of trust. The offences occurred within the Thames Valley area.”
Nosakhare was charged with five counts related to sexual activity with a minor, including two counts of penetrative and three counts of non-penetrative acts. He was found guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court and sentenced on July 29.
Detective Constable Bryn Smith of the UK Police Child Abuse Unit, who led the investigation, praised the courage of the victim throughout the legal process.
“I want to commend the victim for her bravery during the investigation and court proceedings. I hope that this sentence offers her some measure of justice,” Smith said.
He also encouraged any other victims of abuse to come forward, noting that Thames Valley Police has dedicated units to support survivors and pursue justice.
In a separate case reported in June, another Nigerian, Adewale Kudabo, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for sexually assaulting a female patient while working as a healthcare assistant at York Hospital. The judge in that case emphasized the serious breach of trust involved in the offence.
