A Nigerian lady has sparked conversations online after recording a tense “stop and search” encounter with police officers who insisted on checking her bag during a cab ride.

According to her post, she was simply a passenger on her way to her destination when the officers flagged down the cab and demanded to inspect her belongings.

She explained that she initially questioned the reason for the search, but rather than giving a clear explanation, the officers reportedly became more insistent, asking her to step out of the vehicle.

Feeling uneasy, she decided to record the moment, saying she wanted to protect herself and document the incident. In the video, she could be heard saying that if the officers were “doing their stop and search,” then she too would “do her own content,” adding humorously that “police is our friend.”

The clip has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians applauding her courage for staying calm and resorting to recording as a means of accountability. Others have used the incident to renew calls for police reform and clearer protocols on stop-and-search operations.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
