NIGERIAN FILM CORPORATION CONFIRMS ALI NUHU IS ALIVE, DISMISSES DEATH RUMORS

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has debunked social media rumors claiming that its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu, had passed away.

The speculation began after a Facebook post by one Ifeoma Chigbo shared a video suggesting the veteran actor and filmmaker was dead. The claims escalated further when another post alleged that Nuhu had died in a fatal car accident.

However, in a statement released on Monday, the NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, described the reports as “false, malicious, and injurious,” stressing that Ali Nuhu is very much alive and actively carrying out his duties.

“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu. We wish to unambiguously inform the public that the reports, including videos laced with his pictures, are false in their entirety. Dr. Nuhu is alive, well, and discharging his responsibilities as Managing Director,” the statement read.

The NFC further warned that those behind the misinformation would face consequences, as steps are being taken to track down and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Ali Nuhu, often referred to as the “King of Kannywood,” was appointed as the Managing Director of the NFC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024.

The Corporation thanked the public and industry stakeholders for their concern and urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it to avoid spreading fear and misinformation.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
