A statement from former US President Donald Trump, describing Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” due to alleged persecution of Christians, has triggered intense debate among Nigerian entertainers over whether the nation should accept or reject foreign military intervention.

Trump’s remarks, which warned that Nigeria faced an “existential threat” to Christianity, quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of mixed reactions.

Gospel singer Victoria Orenze cautioned against relying on external powers for help, urging citizens to place their faith in God and collective national effort.
She wrote on X, “Nigerians—Christians or not—we cannot stay silent or look away. There’s no nation to boast of if we lose our home. Deliverance won’t come from America, China, Russia, Canada, the UK, or Europe. It comes from God and from us working together.”

Rapper Spyro also voiced his concern, condemning the loss of innocent lives while warning against misplaced hope in foreign intervention.
He stated, “I am against every killing, whether of Christians or anyone else. It’s painful and wrong. I know it might seem like help is coming, but the devil often appears as an angel of light. This is the time to use our voices and push the government to act before disaster strikes.”

Reality TV star Tacha shared a similar stance, saying in a video post, “Nigerians keep looking for a saviour, forgetting that we are the ones who must save ourselves. Nobody is coming to rescue you.”

However, others like actor IK Ogbonna and online streamer Peller maintained that external assistance should not be dismissed outright.
Ogbonna remarked, “Trump is threatening war against the terror groups in Nigeria. If we haven’t been able to solve this problem for years, any sincere help should be considered.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
