NIGERIAN ARMY RECOGNISED AS AFRICA’S BEST IN COUNTER-TERRORISM OPERATIONS
The Nigerian Army has been recognised as Africa’s leading force in counter-terrorism operations, a distinction that reflects its sustained efforts in combating insurgency, banditry, and other security threats across the country.
Military authorities said the recognition highlights the Army's operational successes, improved intelligence-driven missions, and enhanced collaboration with other security agencies in addressing terrorism and violent extremism.
According to the Army, ongoing investments in training, modern equipment, and strategic partnerships have strengthened its capacity to respond to evolving security challenges while protecting lives and critical infrastructure.
Security experts noted that the recognition underscores Nigeria's growing role in regional security and counter-terrorism efforts, particularly through cooperation with neighbouring countries and multinational security initiatives.
They, however, stressed that sustaining these gains will require continued investment in military capabilities, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and support for affected communities to address the root causes of insecurity.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups, safeguarding national security, and working with local and international partners to promote lasting peace and stability across Nigeria and the wider region
