NIGERIA VS BENIN: SUPER EAGLES SET TO LEARN 2026 WORLD CUP FATE TODAY

All eyes will be on Uyo today as the Super Eagles of Nigeria take on Benin Republic in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The high-stakes encounter will determine whether Nigeria secures a place at the next World Cup or misses out for the second consecutive time after failing to qualify for Qatar 2022.

Benin, led by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, currently sit top of Group C with 17 points, three ahead of Nigeria. The Cheetahs need just a draw to seal automatic qualification for the World Cup in USA, Canada, and Mexico.

For Eric Chelle’s men, the task is simple but steep — they must win by at least two goals to have any real chance of topping the group or grabbing a playoff spot.

Meanwhile, South Africa, who are also in contention, will host Rwanda in Johannesburg and will be watching the Uyo game closely. Bafana Bafana need a win to boost their own qualification hopes.

As the tension builds, fans across the country are hoping the Super Eagles can rise to the occasion and bring back Nigeria’s long-lost World Cup dream.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
