Nigeria and the United Kingdom have strengthened bilateral security cooperation aimed at combating terrorism, cybercrime, and other transnational threats.

This was disclosed on Tuesday during a high-level meeting between Nigerian security chiefs and a UK delegation led by senior officials from the British High Commission.

The partnership will focus on intelligence sharing, joint training programmes, and capacity building for Nigerian security agencies in modern counter-terrorism and cyber defence strategies.

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, described the collaboration as “timely and strategic,” noting that evolving security challenges require global partnerships.

“Cybercrime and terrorism have no borders. Our cooperation with the UK will enhance our capabilities to protect Nigerian citizens and critical infrastructure,” he stated.

The UK delegation reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s security architecture through technical assistance and information exchange.

Both countries agreed to establish a joint working group to fast-track the implementation of the new security pact.
