“NIGERIA HAS BETTER FAMILY SUPPORT SYSTEM” — M.I ABAGA EXPLAINS WHY HE’LL PREFER RAISING KIDS AT HOME
Ace Nigerian rapper and music executive, M.I Abaga, has revealed that he would prefer to raise his future children in Nigeria, citing the country’s strong sense of family, community, and cultural grounding.
In a recent interview, the award-winning hip-hop star said Nigeria offers a more supportive and communal environment for parenting compared to most Western nations.
“There are a lot of things appealing about home, especially because we’re already ingrained in that system. There’s a lot of support as well. I feel it’s very difficult for parents here,” M.I said.
“But if you have family, now you have enough people that can stay at home and support you. But it’s not easy, man.”
M.I contrasted this with life in countries like the United States, where long work hours and individualistic lifestyles make parenting more challenging without family support.
The rapper further explained that raising kids in Nigeria allows them to understand their roots and culture before gaining exposure abroad — a balance he believes is vital in today’s globalized world.
Although he noted that he’s not yet making concrete family plans, M.I emphasized that Nigeria’s communal values remain one of its biggest strengths when it comes to raising well-rounded children.
