NIGERIA ESCAPES ECONOMIC COLLAPSE, MOVES TO STABILITY — FINANCE MINISTER
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has declared that Nigeria has successfully navigated the risk of economic collapse and is now on a path to stability.
In a recent address, Edun highlighted key reforms in fiscal policy, foreign exchange management, and revenue generation as critical factors that helped the country avoid a deeper crisis. “Through deliberate and courageous decisions, we have steered the economy away from the brink and are beginning to see signs of stabilisation,” he said.
The minister pointed to improving foreign reserves, moderating inflation trends, and increased non-oil revenue as positive indicators. He acknowledged that challenges remain but expressed optimism about the medium-term outlook.
Economists have welcomed the statement, though many called for sustained reforms and structural changes to ensure long-term stability.
The government has pledged to maintain fiscal discipline and accelerate diversification efforts to build resilience against future shocks.
