NIGERIA, BANGLADESH DEEPEN MILITARY TRAINING COOPERATION
Defense authorities formalize expanded strategic education agreements, highlighting mutual institutional exchanges and historical capacity-building milestones between both nations
Nigeria and Bangladesh have taken definitive steps to strengthen their bilateral defense framework, placing particular emphasis on advanced military training, professional
education, and strategic institutional exchanges.
The renewed commitment was highlighted during high-level diplomatic engagements in Abuja between Nigerian military hierarchy and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Miah Md Mainul Kabir.
During the discussions, defense officials noted that approximately 154 Nigerian military officers have successfully completed rigorous strategic courses at the prestigious Bangladesh National Defence College over the years.
Both nations emphasized that institutionalizing these training pathways through an alumni framework will further consolidate operational expertise, tactical competence, and leadership capacity within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
In addition to academic and professional military education, the collaborative talks explored broader areas of bilateral defense cooperation, including maritime security, naval shipbuilding technology, and indigenous defense-industrial growth.
The visiting envoy also extended formal condolences to the Nigerian military establishment regarding the recent tragic aircraft crash in Ondo State, while commending the country's enduring contributions to global United Nations peacekeeping operations.
