NIDCOM URGES NIGERIANS IN FRANCE TO STAY CALM AMID PROTESTS
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has appealed to Nigerians living in France to remain peaceful and respect local laws amid ongoing protests.
NiDCOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, urged members of the Nigerian community to exercise restraint, avoid provocation and cooperate with lawful instructions from French authorities.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
Dabiri-Erewa advised Nigerians to rely on verified safety information and avoid sharing rumours or unconfirmed reports, particularly on social media.
She also encouraged them to treat their neighbours and other communities with respect, regardless of nationality, religion or background.
“Nigerians in the Diaspora are ambassadors of their country and have a shared responsibility to uphold Nigeria’s image while respecting the laws and institutions of their host country,” she said.
The commission further urged anyone facing threats to their safety or rights to seek appropriate legal assistance and contact relevant emergency or consular services.
The statement called for responsible conduct and peaceful cooperation as Nigerians in France navigate the situation.
