The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called for greater unity and cooperation among Muslim Nigerians living abroad. She made the appeal while stressing the importance of stronger relationships among diaspora communities and their continued contribution to Nigeria’s development.

Dabiri-Erewa said Nigerians in the diaspora have an important role to play in supporting the country and promoting its interests in their host countries. She encouraged Muslim diaspora organisations to work together, build stronger networks and avoid divisions that could weaken their ability to contribute effectively to both their communities abroad and Nigeria.

The NiDCOM boss also highlighted the importance of cooperation in addressing issues affecting Nigerians living outside the country. She urged diaspora groups to create platforms that encourage dialogue, mutual support and peaceful coexistence, while also ensuring that their activities contribute positively to Nigeria’s image internationally.

She noted that the Nigerian diaspora represents a significant pool of skills, knowledge, investment and experience that can be channelled towards national development. According to her, stronger collaboration among Nigerians abroad would make it easier to identify opportunities, support one another and establish initiatives capable of benefiting communities in Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa therefore called on Muslim Nigerians abroad to put aside differences and work towards common goals. She maintained that unity, cooperation and responsible engagement would strengthen diaspora communities while creating more opportunities for Nigerians to contribute to the country’s economic, social and diplomatic development.
