NHIA REFUNDS N14.2M, SUSPENDS NINE HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS
The National Health Insurance Authority has refunded N14.2m to enrollees and suspended nine healthcare facilities following complaints and investigations into their operations under the national health insurance system.
The NHIA said the actions were taken as part of its efforts to protect enrollees and ensure that healthcare providers comply with the rules governing participation in the scheme.
The refunds followed investigations into complaints from beneficiaries concerning services received from healthcare providers. The authority said the cases were reviewed before the affected enrollees were reimbursed.
The nine healthcare facilities were also suspended after regulatory investigations identified issues requiring enforcement action.
The NHIA has continued to monitor healthcare providers and respond to complaints from enrollees who experience difficulties accessing services covered by their health insurance plans.
The authority urged enrollees to report cases involving denial of care, improper charges, poor treatment or other violations through its official complaint channels.
Healthcare providers participating in the scheme are required to meet established standards and provide services in line with agreements reached with the authority.
The NHIA said its enforcement activities were aimed at improving accountability and service delivery within the health insurance sector.
The authority maintained that continued monitoring and appropriate sanctions would help strengthen confidence in the national health insurance system and protect the rights of enrollees.
