NERC TRAINS JOURNALISTS ON ELECTRICITY SECTOR REFORMS

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has organised a specialised training programme for journalists to enhance their understanding of ongoing reforms in the power sector.

The workshop aimed to equip media professionals with accurate information on key policies, regulatory frameworks, and challenges facing the electricity industry. NERC officials noted that informed reporting is essential for shaping public discourse and holding stakeholders accountable in the power value chain.

Participants were taken through topics including tariff methodologies, licensing processes, consumer rights, and the roles of various agencies in the sector. The Commission expressed hope that the training would lead to more balanced and factual coverage of electricity issues in the media.
