NEMA RECEIVES 180 STRANDED NIGERIANS FROM LIBYA — 46 RETURNEES TREATED FOR MEDICAL CONDITIONS (PHOTOS)
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with its partners, has received 180 vulnerable Nigerians who were repatriated from Libya.
The returnees arrived at the Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Monday, November 11, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., aboard an Air Libya flight with registration number 5A-BAE.

Breakdown of Returnees
In a statement released on Wednesday, NEMA revealed that the group consisted of:
147 adults (45 males and 102 females),
19 children (6 males and 13 females), and
14 infants (7 males and 7 females).
Among them, 46 individuals were identified with medical conditions and received immediate attention from health officials upon arrival.
Collaborating Agencies
The repatriation was carried out in partnership with the:
International Organization for Migration (IOM),
National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI),
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN),
Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and
Port Health Services.
Upon arrival, immigration officers conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure accurate profiling and a smooth reintegration process for all returnees.
Humanitarian Support and Reintegration
In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the welfare and dignity of its citizens abroad, the returnees were provided with food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, luggage handling, logistics support, and counseling.
NEMA emphasized that the reception exercise was jointly coordinated by the agency and its partners, describing it as a seamless and well-organized operation that underscores the government’s continued efforts to assist Nigerians stranded in crisis-affected regions.
