The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kogi State Government have reinforced their collaboration to enhance flood preparedness and mitigation strategies ahead of the peak rainy season.

The partnership includes joint early warning systems, community sensitisation programmes, and the development of robust evacuation and relief distribution plans for vulnerable communities along the River Niger and Benue floodplains.

NEMA Director General emphasised the importance of proactive measures to minimise loss of lives and property, noting that Kogi State is historically one of the most flood-prone areas in the country.

Kogi State officials pledged full support, including the provision of logistics and local intelligence to ensure timely response. The two parties also agreed to improve data sharing and coordination with other stakeholders for more effective disaster risk reduction.

The strengthened partnership is expected to significantly improve resilience and response capabilities in the state.
