NELFUND HAS TRANSFORMED ACCESS TO EDUCATION, SAYS EKITI VARSITY VC
The Vice-Chancellor of a university in Ekiti State has described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as one of the most significant developments in Nigeria’s education sector.
The Vice-Chancellor said the student loan initiative has the potential to reduce financial barriers facing students and enable more young Nigerians to pursue higher education despite economic challenges.
Speaking on the impact of the scheme, the VC noted that many students struggle to meet the cost of tuition, accommodation, learning materials and other educational expenses.
According to the university administrator, NELFUND provides an important financial support system for students who may otherwise be unable to continue their education because of financial difficulties.
The VC also highlighted the broader benefits of supporting students through education financing, saying improved access to higher education could contribute to the development of skilled professionals needed to drive Nigeria’s economy.
The administrator urged students who qualify for the scheme to take advantage of the opportunity and use the funds responsibly.
The Federal Government established NELFUND as part of efforts to expand access to tertiary education and provide financial assistance to eligible Nigerian students.
As the scheme continues to expand, education stakeholders have called for effective implementation, transparency and sustained funding to ensure that more students benefit from the programme.
