The North-East Development Commission has called for deeper collaboration among government institutions, development partners and other stakeholders to improve service delivery and accelerate development across the region. The commission said stronger partnerships would help ensure that interventions are better coordinated and produce greater impact in communities facing developmental challenges.

The NEDC emphasised the importance of working closely with state governments, local authorities, traditional institutions, communities and relevant agencies in implementing projects across the six states of the North-East. According to the commission, collaboration would help reduce duplication of efforts, improve the use of available resources and ensure that development programmes respond more effectively to the needs of residents.

The commission also stressed the need for improved service delivery as it carries out its mandate of supporting reconstruction, rehabilitation and development in the region. Its interventions cover areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, skills development and other sectors considered important to improving living conditions and creating economic opportunities for residents.

The push for greater cooperation comes as the North-East continues to deal with the effects of years of insecurity and other socio-economic challenges. The commission said sustainable development would require not only government funding but also the active participation of development organisations, the private sector and communities. Such partnerships, it noted, could help strengthen projects and make interventions more sustainable.

The NEDC said it remained committed to improving the quality and efficiency of its programmes while ensuring that resources were directed towards projects with meaningful benefits for the people. The commission expressed its readiness to strengthen existing relationships and build new partnerships that would support its development agenda and contribute to long-term stability and economic growth across the North-East.
