NECO REGISTRAR, MINNA EMIR SEEK MORE SUPPORT FOR TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS
The Emir of Minna, Alhaji Farouq Bahago, and the Registrar of the National Examinations Council, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, have urged corporate organisations to support traditional institutions and contribute to the development of host communities.
They made the call during the inauguration of the Palace of the Mai-Anguwan Gidan Mangoro, Mallam Sani Zagi, which was constructed by Wushishi following his traditional installation as the Maji Dadin Gidan Mangoro.
The Emir, represented by one of his chiefs, Salisu Garba, said traditional institutions play an important role in maintaining peace, unity and social cohesion within communities.
Garba said the peaceful relationship between NECO and its host communities demonstrated the benefits of cooperation between institutions and traditional leadership.
He described the newly inaugurated palace as a symbol of cultural heritage and community unity, noting that development should recognise and respect traditional institutions.
Wushishi, in his keynote address, said the event reflected NECO’s commitment to extending its corporate social responsibility beyond examinations, certification and educational quality assurance.
He said stable and peaceful communities were essential to the effective functioning of education systems and other institutions.
According to him, NECO’s social responsibility initiatives are designed to support host communities, promote traditional values and contribute to local development.
The registrar also praised the community for maintaining a peaceful relationship with the council, saying the cooperation had enabled NECO to operate without unnecessary disruptions.
As part of its intervention, NECO donated two transformers and motorised boreholes to Gidan Mangoro and Gbaganako communities.
