The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, revealed that a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the exam, which covered 12 subjects. While the statement did not provide specific performance statistics, it confirmed that the examination was conducted from May 12 to May 23, 2025.

Sani noted that the release of the results followed the successful completion of the BECE Award Committee meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Folake Olatunji David—who also serves as Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education—commended the Council for its effective handling of the exam and results process.

The meeting included participation from secondary school principals across the country as well as NECO management staff.

NECO also announced that the resit examination has been scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025, and will cover Mathematics and English Studies.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
