NDPHC MOVES TO MAXIMISE POWER GENERATION ASSETS
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company is taking steps to maximise the use of its power generation assets as part of efforts to improve electricity supply across Nigeria.
The company said it was focused on improving the performance and efficiency of its generation facilities to ensure that available capacity is fully utilised.
The move comes as Nigeria continues to face challenges in the power sector, including gas supply constraints, ageing infrastructure, transmission limitations, and inadequate investment.
NDPHC said better utilisation of existing generation assets could help increase the amount of electricity available to the national grid without relying solely on the development of new power plants.
Industry stakeholders said improving the performance of existing facilities is critical to addressing Nigeria’s electricity deficit and supporting economic activity.
They noted that reliable gas supply remains essential to maximising the output of many of the country’s thermal power plants.
Experts also called for stronger coordination among power generation companies, gas suppliers, transmission operators, and distribution companies to reduce bottlenecks across the electricity value chain.
NDPHC said it would continue to explore measures to improve operational efficiency, attract investment, and strengthen the contribution of its assets to national power generation.
Stakeholders said sustained investment in generation, transmission infrastructure, and gas supply would be necessary to translate available capacity into reliable electricity for households and businesses.
The initiative is expected to support Nigeria’s broader efforts to improve power supply and strengthen the reliability of the national electricity grid.
