NDPHC BEGINS REHABILITATION OF 225MW GBARAIN POWER PLANT
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has commenced the rehabilitation of the 225MW Gbarain Power Plant in Bayelsa State to restore its full generation capacity and improve electricity supply in the region.
The project involves major repairs to turbines, control systems, and other critical infrastructure that had been affected by years of under-maintenance. NDPHC officials stated that the rehabilitation is expected to be completed within the next few months.
The move is part of broader efforts to optimise existing power assets and address the persistent electricity challenges in the Niger Delta and surrounding areas. “This rehabilitation will add much-needed megawatts to the national grid,” a company spokesperson said.
The Gbarain plant is one of several NDPHC facilities targeted for upgrades as the government seeks to increase reliable power supply.
Residents in the area have expressed hope that the project will lead to improved electricity availability.
