The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered three illegal drug warehouses in the Okota area of Lagos State, seizing narcotics valued at approximately ₦16.9 billion.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the operation led to the recovery of 2,360,000 pills of tramadol 225mg and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup.

The intelligence-led raid was carried out on April 17, 2026, at properties located on Olukayode Awofisayo Street and Charles Ndumetu Street, both within Park View Estate, Ago Palace Way, Okota.

Recovered items included 19,094 cartons of codeine syrup and 34 cartons of tramadol tablets, which were reportedly hidden inside residential buildings.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), described the seizure as a major breakthrough in the agency’s fight against drug trafficking.

He said the discovery of such a large quantity of drugs in a residential estate shows the tactics used by traffickers, while also demonstrating the effectiveness of NDLEA intelligence operations.

Marwa warned drug cartels that there would be no safe haven for them, stressing that the agency would continue to track and dismantle illegal drug networks across the country.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
