Wanted Lagos Pastor Nabbed for Alleged International Drug Smuggling

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele — also known as Abbas Ajakaiye — the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, for allegedly masterminding multiple cross-border drug shipments.

The dramatic arrest took place on Sunday, August 3, at the pastor’s church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos. NDLEA operatives reportedly monitored the premises from morning until the end of the Sunday service, before moving in and apprehending him as he stepped outside.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the cleric had been on the run since June, evading arrest twice and fleeing to Ghana to hide. His arrest is linked to the seizure of two shipments of “Ghana Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, traced directly to him.

The NDLEA said Olasele’s capture marks a major breakthrough in its efforts to dismantle cross-border drug trafficking networks. Investigations into the full extent of his alleged operations are still ongoing.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
