NDIDI SUSPENDED AS SUPER EAGLES GEAR UP FOR DR CONGO IN WCQ PLAYOFF FINAL
Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will miss the Super Eagles’ crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday due to suspension.
Ndidi received an early yellow card during Nigeria’s 4-1 semi-final win over Gabon on Thursday, ruling him out of the decisive match that will determine which African team progresses to the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026.
Despite the setback, head coach Eric Chelle will have defender Semi Ajayi available for the game. Ajayi was suspended for the Gabon match after accumulating yellow cards but has now served his suspension and will return to strengthen the Super Eagles’ defence.
The playoff final is set to take place at the newly constructed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco. Fans will be eager to see Nigeria put up a strong performance as they aim to secure a spot in the intercontinental stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The absence of Ndidi will be a challenge for Nigeria’s midfield, but with key players like Osimhen leading the attack and Ajayi back in defence, the Super Eagles remain hopeful of progressing to the next stage.
