NDC DEMANDS INEC AUDIT OVER ANAMBRA CANDIDATES

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct an immediate audit of its nomination portal after the party disowned 10 candidates listed for the 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly elections.

The NDC said it neither nominated the individuals nor submitted their Form EC9E documents to INEC, raising concerns about how their names appeared on the commission’s published list.

The party is demanding an electronic audit of the INEC nomination portal to determine how the disputed candidates were uploaded and whether there was any unauthorised access or alteration of its records.

The development has raised questions about the integrity of the nomination process as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

The NDC said it had formally communicated its concerns to INEC and expects the commission to investigate the matter and provide an explanation.

The party also called for transparency in the handling of nomination documents to protect the credibility of the electoral process.

INEC has yet to publicly provide details on the circumstances surrounding the disputed entries.

The controversy comes as the commission continues preparations for the 2027 general elections, with political parties finalising their candidates and electoral structures across the country.
