NCC, REA JOIN FORCES TO EXPAND DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY ACROSS NIGERIA
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) have partnered to expand digital access across Nigeria by improving connectivity in underserved and unserved communities.
The collaboration aims to leverage telecommunications and electricity infrastructure to extend broadband services, enhance internet access, and support the country's digital transformation agenda.
According to the agencies, the partnership will focus on deploying sustainable infrastructure that combines reliable power with telecommunications facilities, enabling more communities to benefit from digital services.
Industry experts said the initiative could accelerate financial inclusion, improve access to digital education and healthcare, and create new opportunities for businesses operating in rural areas.
They noted that reliable electricity and broadband connectivity are critical to unlocking the potential of Nigeria's digital economy, particularly in communities that have traditionally lacked access to essential infrastructure.
The NCC and REA reaffirmed their commitment to working together with public and private sector stakeholders to bridge the digital divide, promote inclusive economic growth, and ensure that more Nigerians can participate in the country's expanding digital ecosystem.
