Kwam 1 Banned from Flying in Nigeria for 6 Months After Airport Incident

Legendary Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, has been hit with a six-month flying ban by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) following his reported misconduct at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The news was confirmed during a press briefing on Thursday by Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection. According to him, the decision was taken to uphold aviation safety rules and ensure accountability — no matter the individual’s status.

“The passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months from flying in Nigeria,” Achimugu stated.

Aviation Rules Apply to Everyone — Even Celebrities

Achimugu stressed that aviation laws are global and must be followed by all passengers, regardless of fame or social standing.

“These rules are made for everyone. They are not designed to antagonise passengers, but to protect everyone equally,” he added.

The NCAA is also taking things a step further by seeking legal action. Letters are already being sent to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to begin prosecution proceedings against the music icon.

Is Kwam 1 Above the Law?

When asked if Kwam 1’s alleged close ties to President Bola Tinubu could shield him from consequences, Achimugu was firm in his response. He assured the public that the law will take its full course, stating that both President Tinubu and Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, are committed to upholding the rule of law.

“No individual is exempt from due process — not even celebrities,” Achimugu emphasized.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
