NATIONAL GRID COLLAPSES AGAIN, SECOND TIME IN FOUR DAYS
Nigeria’s national power grid suffered another collapse on Tuesday, marking the second outage in just four days. Reports indicate that power generation fell sharply from 3,825 MW at 10 a.m. to just 39 MW by 11 a.m., after earlier peaking at 4,762 MW at 6 a.m.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EkoDisCo) confirmed the system failure in a statement to customers, noting that the collapse at 10:48 a.m. resulted in widespread loss of power across its network.
The distribution company assured customers that it is working closely with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible and promised updates on progress. Customers were urged to bear with the ongoing restoration efforts.
This latest incident highlights the continued fragility of Nigeria’s power infrastructure, which has faced recurring system collapses and interruptions in recent years.
