Nigerian gospel minister and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has narrated how an alleged traditional spiritualist, whom he described as a “juju man,” once attempted to place him under a spell but was unsuccessful.

Bassey said the incident occurred along an express road and was the second time the same individual had approached him.

While speaking during a worship session, he explained that the man knocked on his car and began performing what he believed was an enchantment, apparently trying to influence him and command him to act in a certain way.

The pastor said he remained calm and laughed, responding instead by declaring Bible verses about divine protection, including the scripture that says, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”

According to him, the man stayed nearby as though waiting for the spell to take effect. Bassey, however, cited another verse — “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel” — to express his conviction that the attempt would fail.

He added that he eventually stepped out of his car and firmly ordered the man to leave the scene.

Reflecting on the experience, the cleric said he later wished he had detained the individual until the police arrived.

Bassey emphasized that his account was not meant to glorify evil but to underline what he described as the reality of spiritual wickedness and the power of faith in overcoming it.
