NATHANIEL BASSEY, PASTOR JERRY EZE CALL FOR URGENT ACTION AGAINST RISING INSECURITY IN NIGERIA
Prominent gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze have joined voices to demand urgent action against the growing wave of insecurity in Nigeria, including banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings.
In a statement on social media on Wednesday, Pastor Jerry Eze prayed for justice and accountability, declaring:
"About time, God of judgement spares no enemy of Nigeria and their sponsors. Enough is enough of this banditry, terrorism, and wickedness."
Similarly, Nathaniel Bassey expressed deep concern over the nation’s security situation. He stressed the need for decisive action from the government, armed forces, intelligence agencies, and citizens alike. Bassey prayed for peace, saying:
"Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen."
Their calls come amid a spate of violent incidents across the country. Notably, a recent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church parish in Eruku, Kwara State, left at least two people dead, while 25 students were abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, during which a staff member was also killed.
These incidents have sparked widespread outrage, with religious leaders, entertainers, and civil society groups urging swift government action to restore safety and security nationwide.
The appeals from Bassey and Eze reflect the growing demand for a united front against crime, emphasizing that the protection of citizens and communities should be an urgent national priority.
