NASENI URGES YOUTHS TO BUILD LOCAL TECH SOLUTIONS

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has urged Nigerian youths to focus on developing local technology solutions that address the country’s specific economic and social challenges.

The agency made the call as it encouraged young innovators to move beyond ideas and develop practical technologies that can be produced, commercialised, and deployed within Nigeria.

NASENI said Nigeria’s young population represents a major source of innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly as technology continues to reshape industries and create new economic opportunities.

The agency urged youths to identify problems within their communities and use science, engineering, and digital technology to develop solutions that can improve lives and strengthen local industries.

It also emphasised the importance of collaboration among young innovators, research institutions, universities, government agencies, and the private sector in turning innovative ideas into viable products.

According to the agency, greater support for locally developed technologies would help reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported solutions, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and create employment opportunities.

NASENI further encouraged young people to acquire relevant technical and entrepreneurial skills to improve their ability to develop and commercialise innovative products.

The agency said it would continue supporting research, innovation, technology development, and partnerships aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to produce solutions locally.

The call comes amid growing efforts to promote indigenous technology and encourage Nigerian youths to participate more actively in the country’s digital and industrial development.
