NASENI SELECTS 18 ZONAL WINNERS AS SIX INNOVATORS ADVANCE FOR N5M FINALE

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has selected 18 zonal winners from its innovation competition, with six of the successful participants progressing to the final stage where they will compete for a top prize of N5 million. The initiative is aimed at identifying and encouraging innovative ideas capable of addressing some of Nigeria’s economic and developmental challenges.

The selected innovators emerged from the various zonal stages of the competition, where participants presented their ideas and technological solutions for assessment. The process is designed to give young innovators and entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their creativity while receiving recognition and support for solutions that could have practical applications.

Following the conclusion of the zonal rounds, the 18 winners will represent their respective zones, while six of them have secured places in the final contest. The finalists are expected to present their innovations before a panel of judges, with their projects assessed based on factors including originality, usefulness, feasibility and potential impact.

The competition is part of NASENI’s broader efforts to promote science, technology and innovation and encourage Nigerians to develop locally made solutions. The agency has continued to emphasise the importance of supporting innovators whose ideas can contribute to industrial development, job creation and the reduction of dependence on imported technologies.

The eventual winner of the national innovation finale is expected to receive a cash prize of N5 million, while the competition will also provide an opportunity for participants to gain visibility and potentially attract further support for their projects. The initiative is expected to encourage more young Nigerians to pursue technology-driven ideas and contribute to the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
