Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has expressed disappointment over the absence of top government officials during an unscheduled visit to some ministries and agencies.

The governor, who made the surprise inspection on Tuesday morning, lamented that many directors and senior officials were not found on their duty posts, describing the situation as unacceptable.

“Leadership demands presence and commitment. If officials are not at their duty posts, how can we deliver the dividends of democracy to our people?” Governor Namadi queried.

He warned that such laxity would no longer be tolerated, stressing that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.

The governor directed the Head of Service to investigate the absenteeism and ensure strict compliance with work ethics.

During the visit, Namadi inspected ongoing projects and interacted with junior staff who were present. He commended those working diligently while reiterating his zero-tolerance stance on truancy and poor performance.

The development comes as part of the governor’s continued efforts to strengthen governance and block leakages in the state’s public service.
