The Naira weakened by N14.85 against the United States dollar over the past week at the official foreign exchange market.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that at the close of business on Friday, November 7, the Naira traded at N1,436.58 per dollar, down from N1,421.73 on October 31, 2025. This represents a 1.04 per cent depreciation against the dollar on a weekly basis at the official market.

The Naira experienced its steepest decline on Monday following threats of military action in Nigeria from United States President Donald Trump over an alleged killing of Christians.

Meanwhile, in the black market, the Naira gained value, rising to N1,445 from N1,485 on Friday, October 31, 2025.

Overall, the Naira recorded mixed trends during the week, while the country’s foreign reserves continued to grow, reaching $43.32 billion as of November 6, 2025.
