NAIRA REBOUNDS WITH STRONG GAINS AGAINST US DOLLAR
The naira rebounded strongly against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, recovering from the losses it suffered the previous week.
Data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira appreciated to N1,465.29 per dollar, up from N1,475.35 recorded last Friday, October 17, 2025.
This represents a gain of N10.06 against the dollar compared to the previous week’s closing rate.
However, at the parallel (black) market, the local currency traded steadily at N1,500 per dollar, maintaining the same rate as on Friday.
The improvement comes after a week in which the naira depreciated by N20.18 against the greenback on a week-on-week basis.
Market analysts attributed Monday’s rebound to increased dollar supply and intervention efforts by the CBN, which have helped stabilize the market after recent volatility.
The naira’s performance will continue to be closely watched in the coming days as investors and traders assess the impact of ongoing monetary and fiscal measures aimed at strengthening the local currency and curbing speculative trading.
