NAIRA GAINS VALUE AS NIGERIA’S EXTERNAL RESERVES RISE TO $43.28BN
The Naira appreciated against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday, marking its second gain of the week, as Nigeria’s external reserves climbed to $43.28 billion.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the local currency strengthened to ₦1,436.74 per dollar, compared to ₦1,438.49 recorded the previous day—indicating a daily gain of ₦1.76.
Similarly, in the parallel market, the Naira advanced to about ₦1,445 per dollar on Thursday from ₦1,450 traded on Wednesday, based on findings from currency traders in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
So far this week, the Naira has experienced mixed performance at the foreign exchange market, recording two days of appreciation and two days of depreciation.
The improvement in the Naira’s value coincides with a steady rise in Nigeria’s external reserves, which stood at $43.28 billion as of November 4, 2025.
