The Naira continued its upward trend against the United States Dollar, recording a strong appreciation at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the Naira strengthened to N1,344.42 per dollar, improving from N1,357.77 recorded on Monday.

This represents a notable day-on-day gain of N13.35, surpassing the N8.46 appreciation posted in the previous trading session.

At the parallel market, however, the Naira remained unchanged, closing at N1,430 per dollar on Tuesday, the same rate observed on Friday.

The currency’s performance comes amid a decline in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which fell to $49.87 billion as of March 16, 2026, down from $50.01 billion recorded on March 12, according to data from the apex bank.

Meanwhile, the foreign exchange market has only Wednesday left to conclude trading for the week, ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
