NAIRA APPRECIATES AGAINST US DOLLAR AT BLACK, OFFICIAL MARKETS
The Nigerian naira began the week on a positive note, appreciating against the US dollar in both the black and official foreign exchange markets on Monday.
According to Abubakar Alhasan, a Bureau De Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, the naira traded at N1,485 per dollar at the black market, up from N1,500 recorded on Friday, October 25, 2025. This represents a gain of N15 against the greenback compared to last week’s close.
Similarly, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that at the official market, the naira appreciated by N5.16, closing at N1,452.79 per dollar on Monday, an improvement from N1,457.96 on Friday.
This marks the fifth consecutive appreciation of the naira at the official market, signaling sustained momentum in Nigeria’s foreign exchange performance.
Analysts have attributed the naira’s recent rebound to increased dollar supply, tighter monetary policies, and ongoing CBN interventions aimed at stabilizing the currency.
The development has been received positively by traders and market watchers, who hope the upward trend will continue through the coming weeks.
