NAF AIRSTRIKES KILL SEVERAL TERRORISTS IN SAMBISA FOREST
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has carried out precision airstrikes in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, killing several terrorists.
The operation, which took place on Monday, was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Ejodame said the strikes were based on credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which identified active terrorist positions within fortified structures and bunkers.
According to him, NAF aircraft engaged the targets with precision munitions, destroying the structures and neutralising multiple terrorists, along with key logistics facilities used by the group.
He said post-strike assessments confirmed significant damage to enemy positions and operational capabilities in the area.
“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and disrupted, with mounting pressure forcing them into desperate and reactive actions,” he said.
Ejodame added that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at eliminating terrorist elements.
He stressed that the NAF would continue to intensify precision strikes across operational theatres while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.
The Air Force said the latest operation forms part of ongoing efforts to weaken insurgent strongholds in the North-East and support broader counter-terrorism operations in the region.
