NAF AIRSTRIKES KILL 15 TERRORISTS, DESTROY HIDEOUT IN SAMBISA FOREST
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under Operation Hadin Kai, has neutralised at least 15 terrorists and destroyed their hideout in an air interdiction mission at Zuwa, a newly discovered enclave in the Sambisa forest area of Borno State.
Military sources disclosed that the strikes were carried out on September 3 at about 11:50 a.m., following intelligence that traced insurgents who had fled from ongoing ground operations around the Bitta axis in July.
Surveillance and reconnaissance missions conducted by Grey Raptor platforms reportedly tracked the terrorists’ movement along a river channel stretching from Bitta to Zuwa.
“Our crew spotted several structures and fighters clad in ISWAP uniforms in the western part of Zuwa. It was clear the site had become a major gathering point. Precision strikes were then launched against the targets,” one source confirmed.
The air assault destroyed the hideout and killed more than 15 insurgents. The operation was described as a continuation of the July 28 encounter in Bitta, where ground forces overpowered several terrorists.
Troops under Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the air component, have reiterated their commitment to sustaining coordinated offensives, reconnaissance, and close air support operations until the remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP are eliminated from the North-East.
