NAF AIRSTRIKES DESTROY TERRORIST BASE IN NORTH-EAST
The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its air campaign against insurgents in the North-East, carrying out a series of precision strikes on terrorist strongholds in Sambisa and the Tumbuns.
The operations were conducted under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, according to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
He said the strikes targeted insurgent enclaves, destroying hideouts, logistics hubs, and neutralising several fighters in coordinated attack missions.
Ejodame disclosed that on April 30, air assets carried out an air interdiction mission at Alafa in the Sambisa axis, where terrorist infrastructure and supply nodes were destroyed.
He added that the offensive continued on May 1 with another strike on Metele in the Tumbuns, where intelligence had revealed a fortified stronghold with fighters, storage facilities, and defensive trench systems.
According to him, the location was struck with precision, leading to the destruction of the target and significant losses among insurgents.
The Air Force said the sustained operations are part of a broader strategy to maintain pressure on terrorist groups and prevent them from regrouping.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to continuing the offensive until all threats are neutralised.
The latest strikes follow earlier operations targeting terrorist positions in Guduf in the Mandara Mountains along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon.
