N1BN DISABILITY FUND: LASODA DENIES CORRUPTION, LAUNCHES PROBE
The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has firmly denied allegations of corruption in the management of the N1 billion disability intervention fund.
The agency, in a statement issued on Wednesday, described the claims as “unfounded and malicious,” insisting that the fund has been used for its intended purposes, including empowerment programmes, provision of assistive devices, and welfare support for persons with disabilities.
To ensure transparency, LASODA said it has immediately launched a comprehensive internal investigation into the matter.
“We are committed to accountability. Any staff found culpable of misconduct will face appropriate sanctions,” the statement read.
LASODA Director-General, Mr. Adeniyi Ogunbiyi, appealed to stakeholders and the disability community to remain calm while the probe is ongoing, assuring them that findings will be made public.
The N1 billion fund was set up by the Lagos State Government to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities across the state.
