‘MY WIFE WAS IN LABOUR WHILE I WAS FIGHTING,’ PORTABLE WELCOMES SON
Afrobeats artiste, Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, shortly after losing a celebrity boxing match to skit maker Carter Efe in Lagos.
The singer announced the birth on his Instagram page on Saturday, hours after Carter Efe defeated him via unanimous decision at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event held at Balmoral Hall.
Reacting to both developments, Portable said, “My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child.”
He also expressed frustration over the boxing outcome, alleging unfairness in the result. “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. You people cheated.
“They can’t pay the amount of N23 billion. I thought I was going to dance with my belt, but I ended up with my new baby,” he said, while thanking his wife for the delivery.
His wife, Omobewaji, also confirmed the birth, simply writing “Alhamdullillah,” and sharing posts indicating that the newborn has been named Jamal Iremide.
She further celebrated the child’s arrival in a message describing the baby as “my little blessing.”
Portable noted that the birth coincided with his time in the ring, saying, “While my wife was in labour, I was fighting. She gave birth to a boy… I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two… You can have the belt.”
The development adds to the singer’s growing family.
Portable, known for his controversial lifestyle, already has multiple children from different relationships and has previously stated his intention to marry more wives.
