Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has cried out over an alleged assault by uniformed officers while she was preparing free meals for homeless individuals in Lagos.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the actress recounted how her goodwill exercise was violently disrupted by men she described as members of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force.

According to her, the officers harassed her, seized her cooking equipment, and carted away food supplies meant for the needy. She also shared a video of her injured hand, lamenting what she called an unprovoked attack.

“My heart aches. Today, as I was cooking free food for the vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Lagos, like I always do, some uniformed men came there, harassed me, bullied me, and took away the food I was cooking, my cooking gas, and everything I was using,” she wrote.

“My only offence was serving love on a plate through my healthy meals. I am not a chef, and I do not cook for a living.”

Sarah stressed that her outreach was a self-funded act of kindness, not a business venture, and that she only sought to spread love and hope among Lagos’ homeless population.

The actress has since called on the Lagos State Government and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and hold the officers accountable, describing the experience as “painful and disheartening.”

“I was simply trying to help people in need, not break any law,” she added.

Meanwhile, public reactions on social media have been mixed, with many Nigerians expressing outrage and sympathy, urging the government to protect humanitarian efforts rather than discourage them.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
