Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has directed security agencies to strengthen proactive measures to tackle emerging security threats and protect lives and property across the state.

Mutfwang gave the directive on Wednesday during a meeting of the Plateau State Security Council at the New Government House in Jos.

The meeting reviewed recent security incidents, intelligence gathering, preventive operations and cooperation among security agencies. Officials also discussed measures to protect economic activities and maintain peace across the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, said the meeting reflected the governor’s continued assessment of the security situation and efforts to identify gaps that could affect public safety.

Faniyan said security agencies had received the governor’s instructions and would work together to prevent criminal activities and respond quickly to emerging threats.

He appealed to residents to provide credible and timely information about suspicious activities, movements and individuals, stressing that effective security requires cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies.

The police commissioner also said increased vigilance was necessary as the ember months approach and political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He added that the objective was to strengthen intelligence-led and preventive operations so that potential threats could be identified and addressed before they escalate.
