MUTFWANG ORDERS CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL HISBAH ACTIVITIES IN PLATEAU

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has directed security agencies to take action against individuals and groups allegedly carrying out unauthorised Hisbah activities in the state.

The governor said the government would not allow organisations to operate outside the law or engage in activities capable of threatening peace and security across Plateau.

Mutfwang issued the directive amid concerns over the activities of groups presenting themselves as Hisbah organisations without official approval from the state government.

He stressed that security and law enforcement responsibilities must remain within the authority of legally recognised institutions and agencies.

The governor also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or individuals operating under the guise of religious or community organisations.

According to the governor, Plateau is a state with people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds, making peaceful coexistence and respect for the law essential to maintaining stability.

Security agencies were directed to identify and stop any unauthorised activities linked to such groups and take appropriate action where necessary.

The state government maintained that the directive was aimed at protecting residents and preventing activities that could undermine public order.

Mutfwang urged community and religious leaders to support efforts to maintain peace and discourage actions capable of creating tension among residents.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every organisation operating in Plateau does so within the provisions of the law.
