MULTICHOICE SCRAPS AFRICA MAGIC FAMILY AFTER 12 YEARS
MultiChoice has closed Africa Magic Family after 12 years, replacing it with Africa Magic+ as part of changes to its DStv channel line-up.
The announcement was shared on Africa Magic’s Instagram page on Thursday, thanking viewers and introducing the new offering.
“One chapter closes, but the story is far from over,” the statement read.
Africa Magic+ was scheduled to begin broadcasting at 6am West Africa Time on November 5, promising a wider selection of stories, drama and entertainment.
Africa Magic Family became familiar to audiences through family-friendly Nollywood films and Nigerian television series, including programmes such as The Johnsons and Hustle.
Its closure marks a change for viewers who followed the channel’s mix of locally produced entertainment.
The replacement forms part of a broader restructuring of DStv channels and subscription packages that took effect on November 5.
The supplied announcement did not detail the full Africa Magic+ schedule or explain which former programmes would move to the new channel.
