The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) lit up New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 8, with some of the world’s biggest stars taking home top honors. Hosted by rap legend LL Cool J, the night was filled with standout performances, surprise wins, and special tributes.

 

Lady Gaga emerged as the night’s biggest winner, scooping four awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for her hit with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile.”

 

Ariana Grande took home Video of the Year, the ceremony’s highest honor, for “Brighter Days Ahead.” She also grabbed two more awards, making her one of the night’s top stars.

 

Sabrina Carpenter had an equally huge night, securing three awards, including Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Artist.

Other major highlights included:

 

Rosé and Bruno Mars winning Song of the Year for “APT.”

 

Mariah Carey is receiving the prestigious Video Vanguard Award.

 

Busta Rhymes was honored with the inaugural Rock the Bells Visionary Award.

 

Ricky Martin celebrated with the first-ever Latin Icon Award.

 

The show also spotlighted global diversity in music, with Tyla winning Best Afrobeats for “Push 2 Start,” Doja Cat and Lisa leading the K-pop category, Shakira winning Best Latin, and Coldplay taking Best Rock.
